Trolling for Late Summer Fish

I was trolling in 14ft to 17ft of water using a DT-14 at lake Steiger, Mn for 2 hours and caught 4 decent Bass and a nice eater sized Pike. It seemed to be most productive when I trolled slowly and let the lure bounce off the bottom.

If you cant find the fish try trolling

I fish lake Steiger, MN a lot, and know the lake very well but some days the fish just seem to disappear so one effective method to find the fish is to simply take crankbaits and troll. You just have to expirement with different colors, sizes, and lure depths. Generally you should always start trolling from deeper water such as 20 to 25ft deep to shallower water as shallow as 5ft depending on water clarity and fertility.
